Do You Know The Core Issues To Job Dissatisfaction?

With any dissatisfaction the first step is resolve the conflict between head and heart. Emotion is a guiding signal. When apathy, dissatisfaction and depression set in then it is a sign something must change. This something could be in the heart or in the head (a change of perspective). Apathy is stagnation, or lack of movement, change by its very meaning indicates movement and so the stagnation is broken.

We all need to feel important and that we are contributing in a worthwhile way. You have one of two choices, either find something to engage yourself in at work, or to change your career path. For most people the second option is what is really needed, though they fear it the most. They have taken a job that offers ‘financial security’ instead of following their dreams; and so imagination, inspiration and motivation all atrophy.

However these dreams do not truly die and can be reawakened with the correct guidance. By clearing the fears and ‘what ifs’ around change, and in this case specifically the change of career, then his head will no longer try to suppress his heart. He is one step closer to resolving the inner conflict that causes the tension that is experienced, and reflected, in all areas of his life.

By using Energy Psychology Techniques such as EFT these fears can be released completely, often in one short session. There are often a collection of fears and each specific fear can be identified and treated. Examples include the fear of not having enough money should things go wrong; the fear of not being good enough in the new career; the fear of being successful and the responsibility that would bring. It is these fears that cloud or block our motivation or desire to change.

Many people go to motivational seminars or listen to motivational audio’s to find the inspiration to change their lives. The only problem is they are feeding from someone else’s motivational energy. Shortly after the seminar this energy fades and they are back where they started. The word motivation is derived from the word motive meaning ‘the reason why’. It is essential if we want to have lasting motivation we discover our own personal reason why, our own purpose.

When we have purpose we feel important and so our lives have meaning again. Friedrich Nietzsche once observed ‘He who has a why to live for can bear almost any how’. To achieve maximum motivation and to discover life purpose there is a very simple formula: Max Motivation = Passion + Purpose. Otherwise stated as find what you most enjoy in life, give it a purpose and you will find motivation to achieve it.

Life is on average only 4000 weeks long. With only 7 days in every week you do not have time to sit waiting for life to get better. You create your own life through the choices you make. These choices are restricted by the fears and limiting beliefs you have established over a life time, many having come directly from your parents or society. Every excuse you have for life not being different is just that, an excuse. It is a reflection of those fears and beliefs that have limited you so long.

Don’t waste another day, learn some techniques such as EFT that will clear those fears and limiting beliefs and set you free to live your life with passion and purpose. This new sense of joy for life will be reflected in your working life, your personal life and your overall experience of life. A final thought from Howard Wight, ‘If you are ultimately going to do something important that will make a real difference…. do it now’.

Working from home has become increasingly popular in recent years. Many people enjoy the freedom of working from home and this has prompted several of them to join the ranks of freelancing and operating small businesses from the comfort of their own homes.

But for those who think that working from home is an easy stress free way to earn a living they may want to delve a little deeper. While working from home does offer many benefits it’s not always as simple or luxurious as some may imagine. Some people may have a mental image of making money while sitting at home in pajamas sipping morning coffee, being done with the workday by noon then going out to play golf after lunch. Anyone who works at home knows it’s not that easy.

Working at home does have its perks and if you choose to work few hours you won’t be making much money. Basically what you put into a work at home career is what you get back. It also depends on the type of home business you venture into and your area and level of expertise. For example, freelance writing, as with most other freelance jobs can be unpredictable. You may experience high and low periods where you may have more work flowing in than you can handle and other times when there is barely enough to make ends meet.

Making the decision to open your own business, even a small work from home business may take some time and investment. Depending upon your career choice, you may need to purchase equipment, build a list of clients and invest in advertising. You may also need to check and see whether a zoning permit or other license is required. Word of mouth is a good form of advertisement; it doesn’t cost you anything and the results are usually quite positive. You can also utilize the internet as a no or low cost form of advertising as well as the local newspaper. You may also want to invest in some sort of sign and if you will be having clients come to your home office you may want to set up your office in a room of the house that allows access to a private entrance so that people are not traipsing into the living areas of your home.

Working at home has become very popular among stay at home moms but many others have decided to make the change as well. Working at home is ideal for parents who want to remain at home with their children but doing so can be stressful when trying to work amidst distractions. It may be helpful if there is someone else at home who can assist with the family duties and tend to the children during work hours. If this is not possible it may be best to try to schedule work hours so that they coincide with school hours or nap times for younger children.

Work at home jobs have touched on a variety of professions from medical billing and consulting services to childcare and pet sitting. It has also become an avenue for bringing out creativity in many individuals. People have taken hobbies such as candle making or pottery and turned them into fairly lucrative businesses. Others have taken their knowledge and concern for health and well being and combined them to create items such as natural soaps and skin care products. Many environmentally aware individuals have found creative ways to recycle old products into reusable merchandise. They have found ways to give new life to old items, help the environment and earn a living at the same time.

If you want to work from home but aren’t sure how or what to do, put some serious thought into your decision. Ask yourself a few questions and jot down your thoughts and ideas. What do you do best? What do you enjoy doing? What training, experience and education do you have? What type of jobs have you held previously? Be honest with yourself. Are you good with children? Do you have a unique and gentle way with animals? Do you have a special area of expertise? Do friends come to you for help when planning a party or decorating a room? If so, you may want to consider those possibilities. Perhaps you have a knack for sewing or maybe you enjoy refinishing old furniture. The possibilities are endless. Once you’ve made your decision, do a thorough amount of research so that you are well prepared to launch your new career. Being informed and prepared are the first steps to success.

Is A Career a Calling or Choice?

DSC09603
Source: Flickr

How much of our career path is destiny and how much is free will? In my opinion, it is 50/50. We are given a life map at the beginning of our lives, and there are things we are meant to learn, people we are meant to meet, work we are meant to perform. But many of us are not tuned into ourselves and the signs that are presented to us. We often miss important information, and miss out on those lessons, people, and jobs.
The use of free will comes about when we are presented with options. Choices are really curves in our path. We can choose to take the long route, or the quicker, easier route. No path is better, it just impacts how quickly we move along our route, but remember: when climbing the mountain of self discovery, taking the long, hard, scenic route can be a rather enjoyable, enlightening experience.
Confucius once said, “Choose a career you love and you will never work another day in your life.” If you think about this, what a different experience we could have in our work lives. If we actually loved the work we were doing, it wouldn’t seem so much like our traditional concept of work (drudgery/pain). Think about it! How many jobs have you had that you dreaded going to? What are some of the differences between a job, a career, and your life’s work? Let’s define it.
A job is something you get paid to do (money is the primary motivation). It is easy to perform because there is not much challenge, and you will eventually find other work to do.
It may or may not fully engage you. Spirit may or may not be present.
A career is something you get paid to do that is viewed as a profession (status or identity is the motivation). It may provide more challenge, but after a while, you may get burned out, and choose to stop doing it.
It may or may not fully engage you. Spirit may or may not be present.
Your life’s work is something you do whether you get paid for it or not (your soul’s need for expression is the motivation). There is plenty of challenge and personal meaning. You will always want to do it.
It definitely fully engages you. Spirit is present.
Remember that a job can get you started toward your life’s work. In fact, jobs provide the very important element of exposure to different kinds of industries. Take for example, a woman who started out working in a department store as a clerk, who moved into a management position, and finally created her life’s work as an independent contractor who trains others in customer service skills.
Get Smart!
If everyone in the world could create their life’s work (and they can! )—if everyone could find what they were meant to do in life, how much happier and fulfilled we all would be!

Finance Careers In Health Care

If you think careers in the field of finance is limited to having jobs in manufacturing and other more “business” like companies, then it’s time to widen your perspective and look beyond the business districts.
Finance professionals like accountants, auditors and finance analysts are needed in every field, including, and perhaps even more so, in the field of health care. A finance career in health care is a worthy profession.

One can also view the health care industry as an advantage with regards to advancement in their career. For starters, the industry will always be in need of finance managers to tackle issues like accounting, budget, insurance claims, health benefit claim, etc. Jobs will always await those who are qualified.

Another thing is that it seems that amidst erratic economic instability, the health care services is and will always be among the most stable industry out there. With the increasing number of older people, and the advancement of technologies that help improve healthy living, more and more people will need health care services in the future.

Stable as it is, though, the health care industry is not without its set of problems. However, moving into health care is still a good move if you know what you’re getting yourself into. Not to scare you or anything, but advancing your financial career towards health care is not something that you should underestimate.

If you think that your background on corporate finance management is enough to help you move easily about in the world of health services, then you’re wrong. The first step when moving your career to the health sector is that you need to be prepared.

Even though one would argue that accounting is simply accounting wherever you go, there are certain concepts and ideas in the health care industry which can be confusing. Mathematics and numbers can be considered as the universal language but applying those numbers and the kind of mathematics into a comprehensible and usable system requires knowledge and skills that can be highly specific to a field of study. Health care is one of that area.

In advancing your finance career in health services, it would be wise to stack up on knowledge on HMO, home health care, managed care for patients, PPOs, and similar medical terms, concepts and the like. Studying these health related issues and concepts will keep you on your toes and will help you make sound decisions.

You need to prepare yourself to battle head-on various government imposed regulations on health services, lots of house or hospital rules and not to mention existing regulations being handles by organizations from both the medical profession and the finance industry themselves.

Don’t get me wrong. My aim is not to discourage people from moving to health care from manufacturing and service oriented business. But rather, the intention is to inform would be finance professionals of the needs of the health care industry to give them time to prepare themselves towards the transition.

Another way to prepare is to begin browsing job listings and similar materials. These job postings will usually have descriptions telling people who wish to apply what to expect from the job, the responsibilities and other details.

In summary, having a finance careers in health care is a good career move. Just be certain that it is something that you want and your motivation to learn remains high. The profession is a good one and the industry will stick around for a long time.

The finance industry is concerned with how individuals and institutions handle their financial resources — how they raise their money, where they allocate it and how they use it — and assesses the risks involved in these activities as well as recommends ways to manage these risks.

There are a number of exciting and rewarding jobs in the field of finance. What follows are just a few examples.

The commercial banking sector employs more people than any other facet of the financial services industry. Banks offer individuals the opportunity to interact with a broad spectrum of people and the chance to develop a clientele. People in banking usually start out as tellers and shift to other bank services such as leasing, credit card banking, trade credit and international finance.

As the name indicates, a career in corporate finance means you will work in a corporation and are mainly concerned with sourcing money for the company — money that will be used to develop the business, make acquisitions and ensure the company’s future. In a corporation, you are likely to start as a financial officer.

As a financial planner, you may also work for a corporation but will mainly be concerned with only one aspect of finances — planning for the future. You have to have a firm grasp of investments, estate planning as well as taxes. Or you may serve as a consultant who provides financial planning for individuals, e.g., planning their retirement needs or how they can put their kids through college.

With annual revenues surpassing the trillion-dollar mark, the insurance industry looms as one of the most attractive areas for a career in finance. In 2005, there were an estimated 2.5 million people in the US who were employed in the insurance field, which is mainly considered with the business of managing risk and anticipating problem areas. Possible jobs in insurance include working as an underwriter, sales representative, customer service rep, asset manager or an actuary.

A career in investment banking means you will be concerned with issuing securing and helping investors buy, manage or trade financial assets. As a bonus, you get the chance to work on Wall Street in a leading investment banks such as Merrill Lynch, Salomon Smith Barney, Morgan Stanley Dean Witter and Goldman Sachs.

Nurture your career, for maximum efficiency with personal finance. Since your work is where you generate your money, it should be your number one priority to take care of. If your career is suffering, then everything down the chain will suffer as well. So make sure that you are keeping your career ranked above all other investments.

In order to avoid personal finance disasters, make sure you have at least three months equivalent of your salary in the bank. This will mean that if you do run into difficulties, for instance losing your job or facing other unexpected expenses like house or car repairs, you’ll be able to cover the cost.

To truly take advantage of an emergency fund, keep it close but not too close. Three to six months pay should be sitting in an account somewhere so that an unexpected expense is not the end of the world. However, it should be money in an easily accessible interest bearing account, but not in your primary checking account where you can kill it with your debit card in one day.

Finance experts say it all the time. Pay yourself first. You should have at least 3 months worth of living expenses in an emergency savings account. From each paycheck you should have a specified amount of money that goes directly to this account before you ever even see it.

Set aside a portion of one day each week to devote to your finances. You may use a portion of this time to: discuss moving payment due dates with companies you owe; or just quickly review what bills will be due soon. Dedicating a little time each week will keep you from missing payments and having unnecessary late fees.

Work on saving money on clothing by, going minimalist. Buy pieces in solid colors. Make sure that each piece is interchangeable, with others in your wardrobe. Use patterned scarves, interesting belts, and decorative jewelry, to add spice to your outfits. Stay with basics, and only buy a few trendy pieces each season, to keep your wardrobe updated.

As was discussed earlier, the current economic downturn has created tough times for just about everyone. The unemployment rate is frighteningly high, and good jobs are hard to come by. Properly managing your personal finances can help protect you from going into debt and losing everything that you have worked so hard for.
